It
was getting dark. Thick clouds hovered over the rooftop. Sarah was pacing up
and down, restless.
They
were supposed to leave for the village by two in the afternoon; now it was
almost five!
Her
dad had been adamant that he wouldn't let her go there alone this time.
Something
inside him, told him, that he should go along. He decided he would. Nothing
would change his mind now.
Sarah
didn't want to let it happen; because, since afternoon there has been this
restlessness in her heart. She couldn't explain it.
Whenever
she tried to picture what she and her friends would do after they reached the
village, her thoughts would stop, abruptly. She tried and tried, but she just
couldn't picture anything beyond their journey to the village. It was like
there was an abrupt ending just before they reached the village.
“Does
it mean something is going to happen, something bad?” she shivered at the
thought.
No,
she wasn't afraid of dying; but she knew, she would never be able to see
her loved ones die.
As
she thought about it, she sent a silent prayer to heaven.
Right
then, she heard Clarke call out, “Guys, we’re ready. Let’s leave.” Sarah took
all her stuff and once again, tried telling her dad that he didn't have to
come; she’d manage on her own. He wouldn't listen.
They
put everything inside the tempo traveler and left soon after.
Everyone
was quiet.
Sarah
lay down on the seat in the middle of the tempo traveler. She put on her
headphones, closed her eyes, and listened to the song “Your Faithfulness by
Brian Doerksen.”
As
she let the lyrics soak in, she heard the words, “I don’t know how or when I’ll
die; will it be a thief, will I have time to say goodbye? I don’t know how much
time is left; still I know I can trust Your Faithfulness!”
She
opened her eyes; took a deep breath, and then closed her eyes.
Two
minutes later, she heard an unusually loud sound. She shut her eyes
tight. She wouldn't open them. And she felt this great peace envelop her, a
peace that surpassed all understanding, a peace that guarded her heart and mind
completely; she was dead sure that NOTHING would happen to her.
She
was SAFE, Safer than she’d ever been in all her life! She decided not
to open her eyes.
But
then, suddenly… she remembered.. her dad was in the same vehicle, “what about
him!” Without a second thought, her eyes flew open and she saw her dad
falling.. falling somewhere! She screamed,”Daaaaad!!”
Her
dad got up and said something. She heard his voice. He was alive.
And
then it struck her, as her eyes slowly got accustomed to the dark; the tempo
traveler they were travelling in, had overturned down a steep slope. It had hit
a tree at the end of the slope and stopped.
It
was an accident. A terrible one!
As
she opened her eyes wider, she was appalled at the sight: She was
stuck in the middle of ruins. Everything was broken, damaged,
shattered. People were injured. A life was lost.
Only
the frame of the tempo traveler remained.
Sarah
found her way out of the chaos somehow. Some cars were passing by. They saw the
horrific sight and stopped; Men came out and stood there, petrified.
They exclaimed in bewilderment, “What a horrendous sight! No one would've
survived!!”
Men
were talking in whispers; some were loud. All of them, alarmed, shocked,
terrified.
Sarah
turned and faced the ruins, and as the voices faded, she looked up at the
heavens, and she saw black clouds, up above her, thick and smoky, and
she saw magnificence and splendor.. Something she’ll never
be able to explain.. Words would never do justice.. It was a sight
she’d never forget. Ever.
It
was like the Owner of the Heavens had stepped down, to PROVE that
HE exists.. Overcome by awe and wonder, she fell on her knees. She
looked at her hands and feet; No sign of a hurt or a scar or a wound. No, not
one!
The
windows of the vehicle had shattered. She was standing on broken glass, and
yet, she had no scar on her feet. No scar anywhere on her body. It had to be a
MIRACLE!
All
her life, Sarah had longed to see a miracle, but its NOW that she realized, She
HERSELF was the MIRACLE!! Her very breath was proof enough!!
Sarah
went on to become a world famous singer. She travels all over the world and
sings at concerts where millions of people come to watch her. Her songs were
unlike any other song that people have heard. Her songs speak life and peace to
the people who hear her. Countless lives are being changed every day. As
she sings, people feel the difference; they are able to acknowledge the
existence of something bigger than life itself. Many have started believing in
the existence of a Living God. People have found hope, joy, love and life
through her songs. She continues to change lives through her singing.
There
was a reason why she didn't die in that accident that night. She was meant
to change lives, millions of them.
I’d
like you to do something now,
Place
your hand over your heart. Feel that? That’s called PURPOSE. You’re ALIVE
for a REASON!
If
you don’t believe in miracles, perhaps you have forgotten that you are
ONE!
