Gratitude...

Richie was the only son of a billionaire.
His parents made sure that Richie had the best of everything money could buy. He lacked nothing.
He went to the best school in town. He did not have many friends, but he did have the friendship of Mr. Brian, his butler. Mr. Brian truly cared about Richie.
As he grew up, Richie went to a great college. He was handsome and popular.
He got an amazing job. He was more successful than he’d ever thought.
When he was 24, Richie married the love of his life, the prettiest girl he had ever laid his eyes on. They had beautiful children.
Life was PERFECT… till one day... They met with a terrible accident that changed everything FOREVER.
He survived.
His wife and children died. He was left all alone.
One afternoon, as he lay on his bed, in a hospital room, he thought about how everything used to be, before this terrible tragedy struck them. He remembered his beautiful wife, their lovely children, the times they had enjoyed together, the sounds of laughter still rang in his ears, and the smile on their faces; tears welled up in his eyes. He could do NOTHING to bring them back.
As he realized the brevity of life, deep down his heart, he realized there’s something he had never done in his life. He’s NEVER been GRATEFUL. He never thought it important to appreciate the good things when he had then. Everything was taken for granted. Every single thing. And now, He had lost it all. All he had now were memories, beautiful memories. He would live with it for the rest of His life, being thankful at least for the gift of memories.
Oh, but still he wished, if only he had taken time to be thankful for the priceless gift of his family when he had them... if only he had taken time to tell his beautiful wife how happy he was he to have her.. how grateful he was to have such wonderful children... Now when they were no more, he wouldn’t have had to carry the huge burden of regret for the rest of his days!
